Why do perfectly good clothes end up in the landfill?

Because it's far easier for brands to get rid of returns than to restock them. Restocking returns poses a host of fees and challenges, like processing fees, warehousing, inspection, and more.

A staggering 1 in 4 fashion e-commerce items are returned, and brands are struggling to keep up.

WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. An enormous amount of resources are needed to manufacture apparel, and sadly, a lot of the manufactured items simply end up as waste, bleeding dyes and microfibres and clogging up our water systems.

Take a simple pair of jeans: It takes on average 1800 gallons of freshwater to create a pair of jeans. For every pair of jeans created, 44 lbs of CO₂ is emitted — that's the amount of CO₂ emitted from a 50-mile car ride.

WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?

Synthetic materials harm ecosystems.

Most modern clothes are made with synthetic materials like acrylic and nylon that don't biodegrade. When synthetic textiles end up in landfills, they release microplastics that harm wildlife and enter waterways.
